about Calne Choral
Founded in 1886, you are visiting one of the oldest Choral Societies in England
Calne Choral Society has been entertaining the audiences of Calne for over 120 years. With over 60 members the choir went from strength to strength under the leadership of Phil Springate and is developing further under the new leadership of James Green, the Director of Music. We are also on Facebook - so why not 'like ' our page to keep up to date with goings on in the Choir as well as here on our web site. |

Come and Sing!
A warm welcome awaits all singers at Calne Choral Society. We are a friendly bunch! We work towards three performances a year and meet every Monday in Marden House in Calne at 7.30 pm. Whatever your experience and skill level, we are always looking for new singers for all voice parts, soprano, alto, tenor and bass. There is no audition, unless you need help finding a voice part.
Each voice part has a rep who will welcome you, introduce you to the music director, Philip Springate, and can even pair you up with someone experienced who can offer assistance throughout rehearsals. Music will be provided and all we ask is that you hand it back at each rehearsal until you decide to join us as a member. You can stay for three rehearsals before you decide to join.
How to Become a Member
As a member (see current membership subscription) you are provided with music by the librarian, rehearse weekly during school term time with James, and the choir at Marden House and perform at the concerts with orchestra and soloists. Additional singing opportunities arise at several other local events throughout the year. You may wish to perform at our annual soiree held over the Summer.
The choir welcomes singers of all abilities.
However, should an individual's voice become a distraction to others, such that their performance is affected, help will be offered, but ultimately, that person may be asked to leave.
The Society also retains the right not to accept or renew membership of any individual.
