Calne Choral News Bulletin No 9–20th May 2021
Back on 6 September if restrictions are lifted… This bulletin was reposted on Sun 23rd May - correcting the date for the 2022 Spring Concert (9th not 10th April) At last I can pass some good news! Uncertainty over the effects of the latest variant of the virus remains, so we cannot be sure that all restrictions will be removed on June 21st, but we have bitten the restart bullet! After discussion with Phil, the Committee plans to start rehearsals again on Monday 6th September. At least we can book dates we want by moving now. The full rehearsal list of dates booked at Marden House is below and will be added to the usual page elsewhere on this site. Now’s the chance to introduce friends who might like to join us and to encourage others you know. If we get the chance, we may be able to come together for an informal evening before September just to get the feel of things again. Keep an eye on this website. It will be a gentle return to singing and your Committee anticipates that not all may want to return immediately. That’s understandable. Even so, we have booked the Christmas Concert on 18th December 2021 and the Spring Concert on April 9th 2022. A number of you have told me that not being able to sing with the choir has left a major hole in your lives and that you’ll be back as soon as we are allowed. If most feel like that then we shall be able to put on some splendid music at Christmas, both to celebrate families being able to come together again and because it will have been 2 whole years since we could sing!
